Conceived by anthropologist couple, Darcy and Berta Ribeiro, the architectural design of the Memorial of Indigenous Peoples is a work by Oscar Niemeyer, inspired by the Yanomami malocas. The site houses the Museum of Indigenous Artifacts as well as a Cultural Center.
